Canadian Music Week (CMW) takes over several venues in downtown Toronto beginning tomorrow, May 6th and running until Saturday, May 10th. Starting with the music side of CMW, here are some of the musical events that have stood out for me. These include a variety of music genres, venues, and overlapping days and times. Part of the fun at CMW is travelling through the city from venue to venue and sampling new music.

CMW has also announced the nominees for the 2014 SiriusXM Indies – 14th Annual Independent Music Awards. Arcade Fire, City and Colour, Shad, The Weeknd, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Chance the Rapper, A Tribe Called Red among others have been nominated.
The awards show will also feature special performances from nominated artists, including Hollerado, Mounties, Born Ruffians, Ponctuation and The Strumbellas. Sweden’s internationally acclaimed Little Dragon will headline the SiriusXM Indies with an exclusive concert performance, along with Canadian legends The Hidden Cameras.
