From the history and evolution, to the struggles and inspirations of b-boying, Enter The Shadow is an adventure through the streets, demonstrating the ability of b-boys to challenge social issues and connect people through the power and language of dance. Enter The Shadow is a collaboration between Break it Down and playwright Ins Choi, whose previous work, Kim’s Convenience, won the 2011 Toronto Fringe New Play Contest. The production features choreography by Break it Down’s Co-Artistic Directors, Jon ‘Drops’ Reid and Lee ‘Lethal’ Pham, as performed by Canada’s Supernaturalz Crew, Sound Design by Juno Award-winner, Dave‘DJ Serious’ Yan, and Projection Design by Andrew Chung, creator of the new TV Series Millions.
Inspired by the 1954 film Seven Samurai, Klorofyl explores the dynamics of a fallen tribe and its struggle to reemerge united. With an inimitable combination of dance genres from house and hip hop to jazz and contemporary, Klorofyl’s warriors are much like the dancers on stage in their own struggle to challenge established dance formats.
