In my many walks home, I take varying routes and to my surprise, I came across the Independent Designers Outlet (IDO)on Dundas St. West, a block East of Dufferin at Gladstone.
Well, of course I had to stop by and take a peek. Once there, I realised the great line up of designer clothing available at some very reasonable prices. On my first visit, I left with some great summer tops by House of Spy and a great Roots Jacket by Revolve Clothing.
I figured it was a must that I share this new favourite with the rest of you, who want to look fashionable without having to break the bank as well as being eco-friendly. I dropped by the store last week and had a great chat with Lara Stephenson (pictured right) creator of Revolve Clothing and the person who came up with the concept for this shop.
Stephenson decided she wanted to sell some of her over-stock from previous collections since usually there are more than a few pieces left. As with most things, the universe just aligned in time when she needed to find a new design studio and a place to sell some of her extra items. This was the beginning IDO. Eventually, other designers began approaching her to sell their over-stock items… the rest worked itself out.
The store opened about a month ago (May 19th) and they had their official opening party two weeks ago. The clientele seems to be growing everyday. When I was chatting with Lara, a few people came in and all seemed pleasantly surprised at the many lines in the store and the prices.
As of this month, IDO is selling clothing from five Canadian labels. These are: Revolve Clothing, Snoflake, Dagg & Stacey, Greenbaum Clothing, House of Spy, Lux and Luster, and Juma (which have some really cute summer dresses btw).
Drop by the store during the week (Wed-Fri from 12-7pm) and on weekends (Sat-Sun from 12-6pm). It’s guaranteed that you’ll find a thing or two.
