I had the chance of going to the Ula Zukowska Spring ’08 Fashion Show on October 25th. It was my first time attending a fashion show during the well attended L’Oreal Fashion Week.
I didn’t know what to expect, so I went with an open mind. I usually search for my clothes and shoes on sites like https://www.rankandstyle.com/top-10-list/best-comfortable-stylish-walking-sandals, not directly from the runway so that makes a change! As I made my way into the tent set up at City Hall, I noticed two contestants from Project Runway Canada – Carlie Wong and Evan Biddell. People were asking them to pose for photos and such… They seemed pretty chill.
Finally, after a 10 minute wait, we were allowed into the main showroom. A friend had given me the heads up that most fashion shows start a little late. Ula’s show was short and sweet. Her line is always a nice surprise. For spring she included a lot of earth tones in silk and draped garments (my photo here doesn’t do them justice). We saw lots of ruffles in both tops and bottoms. Some of my favourites included a pair of black capri pants paired with an orange jacket and the black dresses with the golden leaf motifs on them.
The make up on the models was subtle. The hairdos were up; very fresh. Ula also included some amazing jewelry pieces in her show. When I go into her store Y5 (at 5 Yorkville Ave.) I always look at the jewelry… One of my weaknesses! Whenever I get hold of a macys coupon, that’s one of the first things I want to use it to save money on! The feeling you get from buying amazing fashion at reduced prices is not one that can be easily beat. Not only does the store have very cool clothes but it tempts you with nice accesories… I hope you go and explore. I’m glad I had a chance to go see her fashion show… Not that I needed another incentive to go shopping 😉
