The short film COLD will premiere today, Saturday Nov 19 at the aluCine Toronto Latin Film + Media Arts Festival, as part of the Business of Spaces program. This film was conceived and written by Judith Rodriguez and Gilda Monreal. They are both actresses that work in film and television and both are trained in theatre. Judith is from the Dominican Republic, this was the first production for her completed outside her country. Gilda has worked in Canada, Dominican Republic, and Chile.
A total of four people worked on this film, all from different cities in the world (Toronto, Montreal, Italy, Dominican Republic), they all met as a group for the first time in New York City, where the film was shot. Judith and Gilda wrote the script in one evening, the next 24 hrs were dedicated to filming, and the post production was done in Canada.
COLD is a film about Elena, who “cannot forget the lucid memories of a past relationship.” The story is a narrative, character and actor driven. The story is simple, yet leaves certain elements to the audience to imagine. Bringing some of ‘magical realism’ to the screen.
aluCine closes tonight at the Revue Cinema. For full festival listings visit http://www.alucinefestival.com/
