Culture Days returns for a fourth fun-filled year celebrating culture in all its forms across Canada. Its main purpose is to unifie Canadians by providing many opportunities to discover and embrace diverse forms of arts and culture.
Taking place September 27 to 29, you can participate in various events throughout the country. Toronto wil feature many events, some of these are listed below to give you an idea of the diversity of arts and culture in our city.
Ghost & Tunnel Tour – Humber College, Etobicoke Lakeshore

Journey back in time at the Lakeshore Campus, once known as the Mimico Asylum. Learn the history behind the construction of the buildings now called the cottages and see, first hand, the extensive tunnel system that was once used by the Asylum. Find out the truth behind the condemned “Building G” and see what remains down below amid the tunnels.
Culture Days @ the Library: Red Slam Hip Hop
York Woods Library, 1785 Finch Avenue West, Toronto – Sat, Sept. 28, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Red Slam, an indigenous hip hop fusion band and arts collective, will share the 5 elements of hip hop through live performance and interactive workshops. Explore the arts of beat making, mc’ing, breakin’, and graffiti, and deepen your knowledge of self. Gain an understanding of hip hop culture, indigenous cultures and arts activism at York Woods library, as part of Culture Days @ the Toronto Public Library.
Culture Days @ the Library: The History of Cuban Dance Music

TPL and Lula Music & Arts Centre present: Lani Milstein talking about Cuban popular music with audio and video examples. See and hear the rich and rica history of son, danzon, cha-cha-cha, mambo, and learn about how they helped form modern-day salsa.
Singsation Saturday Choral Workshop
Centre for Social Innovation Annex, 720 Bathurst St., Toronto – Sat, Sept. 28, 10:30 am–12:00 pm
Experience the joy of singing major choral works in a large choir. TMC choral workshops regularly bring together over 100 people who love to sing, including some TMC choristers and alumni. Guest conductor Matthew Otto (former TMC Associate Conductor) will take participants through some vocal warm-ups, and then we’ll sing from some well-loved choral masterworks. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome. Bring your voice – we provide the music.

Memory in the Mud (Dramatized tour of historical site)

Memory in the Mud is a roving play that celebrates the lives of people who helped build Toronto in her early days. In partnership with Evergreen Brick Works, Words in Motion has discovered and interpreted the stories of several fascinating yet unrecognized Canadians who worked or lived at the Brick Works. As you stroll through time, meet characters who have a story to share with audiences of today.
