The Julian Taylor Band has been busy this summer with concerts at Burlington’s Sound of Music Festival, Canada Day Celebrations in Scarborough and David Pecaut Square. Yet they made time in their busy schedule to record new music. The band is releasing two new singles from the upcoming Desert Star double album, called “Fever,” and “Get Loud.”
The band has garnered huge success with Desert Star (Side One)’s “Just a Little Bit,” which is now in rotation on major radio stations in Germany and the U.S., and was included in the Top 40 U.S. chart for the week ending July 23, 2016. Also from their upcoming, sophomore double-album, they released the rock anthem “Never Too Late,” which has been getting adds on rock stations across the country, plus the vintage soul-meets- rock ‘n’ roll song “Set Me Free,” which charted on CBC Radio 2 Top 20 for six weeks, peaking at No. 2.
They are now set to release two more songs from the upcoming double album Desert Star. “Fever” – a perfect union of soul horns, rock ‘n’ roll guitars, and catchy pop hooks. On the B-Side the song “Get Loud,” written back in 2014, is a jazzy, smooth, electric-piano R&B that explains Black Lives Matter to anyone who doesn’t understand: “If a change is gonna come, we must get loud.” It calmly, clearly addresses issues such as the horrific, racially charged events that everyone has witnessed on social media lately. Now, thanks to social media, the general public has finally become painfully aware of what actually has been happening on a daily basis, for a very long time.
Yes indeed, let’s take a note from Julian Taylor’s vocals and get loud!
