North America’s premier battle rap league King of the Dot (KOTD) is throwing the seventh installment of its biggest event of the year, the two day mega-event Blackout 7 on April 14th and 15th. In past years, Blackout has not only played host to some of the biggest names in the global battle rap scene, but it has also been endorsed and supported by some of the biggest music and pop culture icons as well, with everyone from rapper Drake and Raekwon (Wu Tang Clan), to players from the Toronto Raptors attending the special Blackout weekend.
Since 2008 King Of The Dot has been a leading force in the battle rap circuit, not only in Canada, but throughout the world. From filming battles in alleys to throwing events with thousands in attendance from Toronto to California, KOTD’s growth has been consistent.
This year KOTD boasts one of its most exciting lineups yet, with King of the Dot champion Rone defending his title against the Harlem battle rap legend and pioneer Head I.C.E. One of Canada’s top rhymers Charron, will also be taking on the iconic Aye Verb, a veteran in the battle rap arena. The rest of the 14 battles feature some of the biggest names in the sport, in addition to showcasing some of the hungriest up-and-comers looking for their next big win.
KOTD will also be holding a boxing-styled press conference at YoutubeSpaces TO on April 13th. This event will also stream live on KOTD’s Youtube channel.
Blackout 7 will take place on April 14th and 15th at the Capitol Event Theatre in Toronto, Canada. Advance general admission tickets are only $30 and are available for purchase online.
