Presented by TELUS, Community Day is the Ontario Science Centre‘s way of celebrating science with the whole community. The fun takes place on Saturday, September 26th. In addition to FREE admission to all the exhibits and special programming in the Centre throughout the day, adult visitors will be able to turn back the clock to see the popular IMAX film Humpback Whales at the children’s price.

Join us at the TELUS Phone Spa for a WiFi enabled pop-up experience where you can get your device cleaned, optimized, protected and charged.

Meet the Community’s Finest – The Toronto Police and Fire Departments
Join us on TELUSCAPE to meet some of the community’s first responders for a Q&A on community and fire safety. Learn and about things like fire evacuation plans, discover more about fire extinguisher sales, and increase your knowledge of how to react in certain dangerous situations involving fire. Check out a Fire Engine and talk to the Firefighters. See the different police vehicles used on the force, such as a Police Cruiser, ATV and Bicycle. Learn about different police units with a Mounted Officer and their Police Horse and a Canine Officer and a Police Dog.

Are you ready for a few dangerous experiments? Delve into a world of explosions, chemical changes and more! Here’s your chance to find out the difference between science fact and science fiction.

Innovation in Mas’ Award Winner Showcase
Join members of Toronto’s Mas’ Camps to learn about the techniques they have developed for their Caribbean Carnival costumes. On display will be the winner of the Ontario Science Centre’s 2015 Innovation in Mas’ Award, “Carnival Nationz”, led by Marcus Eustace, for “Pan on Broadway”, designed and performed by Shane Reid Mungal, featuring the steelpan and celebrating the magic of theatre.

The Sky Tonight
Discover what’s visible in the sky tonight in this live planetarium demonstration. Take in the beauty of the night sky while our presenter points out constellations and other objects of interest. Learn about upcoming celestial events and take home a star chart that will help you stargaze from your own backyard.

Eyes On The Skies

Papermaking Demo
Transform scrap paper and plants into new paper. Watch the Papermaking demonstration and note the steps used to make paper. Take home the instructions and make your own!

Electricity Demo
Don’t miss the Science Centre’s most shocking demonstration! You’ll get a charge out of the Van de Graaff generator (a.k.a. “The Ball That Makes Your Hair Stand Up”) and find out “what’s watt” with this whole electricity thing!
