A Small Town in Northern Ontario
By Greg Loon
Take me to the river.
Take me to the land where people roam by foot and canoe.
Take me to a place far from any where.
A small town in Northern Ontario.
I once saw the northern lights in the night sky.
So beautiful, flowing amidst into the quiet of nothingness.
Yet, the stars shine in the facade of emptiness.
A small town in Northern Ontario.
I was born here.
This is the roots of my Father and Mother.
The roads they have walked on, the houses they have lived in.
A small town in Northern Ontario.
I have lived here.
There is the feel of dirt roads, small pebbles/stones and twigs on my feet.
I can see the dusty roads turn into mini sand storms
as trucks and cars drive by me.
A small town in Northern Ontario – a place called Moosonee.
