Helmed by Canadian filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden, Cloudburst) the hit show Sugar Highs returns for season two on OutTV.
The hit show wrestles with young queer identities and power dynamics within the queer community. Navigating taboo topics with ease and hilarity, the coming-of-age comedy captures the lived experience of many young gay men and queer folks in North America. Thankfully, Mickey (Samuel Davidson), Bud (Adam Fox) and Tab (Joey Beni) all have each other as they navigate this new world of power dynamics, surprising threesomes and financial hardship.
A few season one favourites return, including Bud’s complicated love interest Early played by Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall, FUBAR) and sugar-baby inspiration and dancer Clark played by Michael Ayres (Star Trek: Discovery, Murdoch Mysteries) and on-off girlfriend and best friend Sarah, played by Ursula Cader.
Writer, director and producer Thom Fitzgerald says, “Our heroes are struggling even more at the onset of season 2, and they get more creative about searching for easy money, catering to more and more niche fantasies. But there’s no such thing as easy money.”
Prior to the launch of Sugar Highs‘ season two, I had the pleasure of speaking with the show’s leads Samuel Davidson, Adam Fox, Joey Beni, and principal cast member Michael Ayres. They generously shared personal insights on their respective roles and the upcoming season.
Episodes of Sugar Highs‘ season two are now available for streaming on OutTV with new episodes every Wednesday until May 15, 2024.
