Thursday night, SummerWorks held its Second Annual Summer Soiree. This Summer Soiree serves as a fundraiser to keep the festival going year after year.
Our evening was hosted by Michael Healey, who kept us well entertained and on out toes throughout the night. We enjoyed a three-course meal courtesy of chefs Mark Cutrara and Alexandra Feswick, who will be opening their new Samuel J Moore Restaurant on the main floor of the Great Hall late August. The entertainment portion of the evening was provided by Bob Wiseman, magician James Alan and the Brick Lane Advice Booth.

As much as this evening was about meeting other theatre-loving Torontonians, it was also about supporting SummerWorks. Michael Rubenfeld, Artistic Producer, took a few minutes to remind us how SummerWorks is the largest juried festival in Canada featuring predominantly new Canadian plays. This is what makes the festival stand out for some of us. It brings us selected plays and introduces us to some great musicians and other artists along the way.

The fundraiser evening may be well over. However, in order to keep the festival going and to keep their ticket prices affordable to all, you can help them by donating to SummerWorks online. You can use this link to do so. You will help bring Canadian plays and artists on-stage for us to discover.
