Doodles, a character-driven universe and next-generation entertainment company, together with Pharrell Williams, officially premiered ‘Dullsville and The Doodleverse,’ a musical animation experience, at an event that took place during the Toronto International Film Festival at Toronto’s Design Exchange in the historic Toronto Stock Exchange building.
Coi Leray, who created music for the soundtrack and lent her voice to a character featured in the animated special, joined Pharrell Williams, the Doodles team, Trippie Redd, and other culture and entertainment leaders at the film’s debut in Toronto.
Dullsville and the Doodleverse
In the town of Dullsville, imagination has been monopolized by the sinister corporation Dream Pump Industries. Hap and his cat Mello try to fit into a life of dry toast brunches, cubicle labyrinths and monotonous efficiency. After a fateful incident involving a Dream Pump Industries delivery truck, the duo are plunged into the Doodleverse, a reality-shattering world where imagination holds no bounds – sometimes to dangerous extremes. Hap must overcome his self-doubt and harness his creativity to find a way home, but life in Dullsville will never be the same.
Directed by Doodles Co-founder Burnt Toast through his creative studio Golden Wolf, the animated special debuted during the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) with a 360 degree rollout. The ‘Dullsville and The Doodleverse’ experience unites Doodles’ iconic animation style with a cinematic format.
“After meeting with various studios, we decided to bet on ourselves and develop ‘Dullsville and The Doodleverse’ with an experience that goes way beyond a pilot or film,” said Julian Holguin, CEO of Doodles. “As one of the largest and most influential film festivals in the world, TIFF is the perfect place to debut this milestone project from Doodles.”
Over the course of the months leading up to the release, Doodles orchestrated a 360 degree rollout, anchored by 3 music videos and a 20 minute animated special that featured some of the biggest artists in the world, including Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty, Swae Lee, and Coi Leray. Under the executive production of Pharrell Williams, these award-winning recording artists not only released original music owned by Doodles Records, but also lent their voices to characters featured in the animated special.
After starting as a NFT project in 2021, Doodles has quickly developed a unique and distinguishable brand, identifiable by its pastel-hued characteristics. The next generation entertainment company will continue to develop its beloved IP and fuse music, animation and technology to create groundbreaking content experiences that empower artists and their communities.
