All Tomorrow’s Parties is a program comprised of seven shorts featuring some very interesting, provocative characters.
Love by director Kaveh Nabatian reminds us of the perils of having a one-night stand and the consequences that could arise from that. Here is Nabatian introducing his film.
At Thursday’s screening Nabatian shared that this short is the product of a TIFF talent lab grant; the filmmakers were given $500 for the project. This is the result. Nabatian’s sense of humour comes across in this quirky short. Light and funny.
Good Night by director Muriel D’Ansembourg introduces us to two 14 year-old girls whose naiveté and curiousity brings them out to London’s nightlife and gets them in situations that are exciting yet frightening at the same time. Here is D’Ansembourg with more on the film.
Other films this program include:
Eighty Eight, a film about Ralph knows in the streets of Cornwall (UK) as “The Banjo Man.” A captivating and heartwarming fellow, who makes us wish we could enjoy life as much as he has.
The Pub, live-action bodies are enhanced by sketches and doodles in this film about the daily happenings in a North-London bar. This is a ‘day in the life’ of the bartender who sees herself dealing with all sorts of ‘animals’ and at times abhorrent creatures on the regular. The black and white animation is a great addition to the film.
What If Famous People Weren’t Famous: Prince, a hilarious take on Prince as an air conditioner repair man. Second City certainly knows how deliver the laughs!
All Tomorrow’s Parties runs 91 minutes in length. Its next screening will be Sunday, June 10 at 7:45pm at the Isabel Bader Theatre. For more details on this program and others visit shorterisbetter.com.
