Sellers & Newel, one of my favourite second-hand bookstores, continues its the Sellers & Newel Speakeasy on Wednesday, September 16th, 8pm with the wonderful sounds of Orit Shimoni and special guest Tim Hamel.
Peter Sellers, began theSellers & Newel Speakeasy series earlier this summer with Kevin Quain. The first night was a great success, and the series is set to get even better with Shimoni and Hamel performing for this month’s series.
Orit Shimoni has been writing and performing her own material for over a decade. She formed Little Birdie in Montreal and released her first two albums there, Cinematic Way, and I Left the City Burning. Both albums received high and wide acclaim.
She will be joined by Tim Hamel, a twenty-plus year veteran of the Toronto jazz scene, whose trumpet sounds have graced the stage across North America and beyond. He is the co-leader of the hard-bop group The Cookers Quintet, Tim they have performed from small towns to large cities, and in most major jazz venues.
Admission to the Sellers & Newel Speakeasy is $10 in advance; $15 at the door. You can purchase your tickets at the store. Space is limited but cozy. Very highly recommend this series.
