In my last preview of this year’s SummerWorks Performance Festival, I am highlighting an interactive narrative piece.
I always make a point of attending one or two interactive or immersive experiences at SummerWorks every year. By doing so, I have discovered new artists, took part in the telling of a story, and even canoed to one of the Islands for a ‘celebration of life’ of sorts. Each one is always so memorable.
My pick for this year is What Is Left Of Us by 2359 Productions. This is an interactive experience designed for one person at a time, inside a phone booth exploring the traces we leave in our wake as a society
What Is Left Of Us is part of SummerWorks Public Works programming – bringing artists and audiences together to experience public space in new ways.
Director Guillaume Saindon and I had a really interesting conversation about his work in digital narratives, the intricacies of engineering an interactive experience, and participant reactions as well.
What Is Left Of Us will be set up near Union Station in Toronto from August 9-11. I think you are in for a treat! Sign up for a time at the SummerWorks website; this is a free event so do not wait too long.
