Puzzle Piece premiered its first production, The Little Prince: Reimagined, this past weekend. This is a modern adaptation of the classic novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is the familiar tale of a pilot who encounters a mysterious boy after he crashes his plane in the desert, told anew through object puppetry.
The Little Prince tells the story of a nameless pilot whose plane crashes in the desert, where he has a life-changing encounter with a mysterious boy who claims to be the Prince of his own small planet. As the pilot learns the Prince’s story, he overcomes his suspicions and rediscovers his long-lost sense of wonder and imagination.
The Little Prince: Reimagined transports the timeless tale into the 21st century with a fresh, modern English adaptation by Puzzle Piece Artistic Director Richard Lam (Soulpepper Theatre’s Spoon River, Of Human Bondage), who also performs various roles, directed by Jon Lachlan Stewart (Toronto Fringe Hit Macbeth Muet), and featuring breakout puppeteer Kira Hall (CBC Kids Studio K) as The Little Prince.
Ticket prices range from $25 to $29, available in person at the Streetcar Crowsnest box office, at (647) 341-7390, or online. For more information, please visit puzzlepiece.ca.
