About Cillian Me Softly
The year-long Cillian Me Softly monthly screening series began in June 2025 with a presentation of the 2012 film, Red Lights, at Eyesore Cinema. Every month this series presents a film featuring the popular and multiple-award-winning Irish actor Cillian Murphy. Each screening includes an introduction from Leslie Hatton, raffle prizes, movie poster prints, and a curated playlist of music based on the film.
The Cillian Me Softly screening series celebrates some of Murphy’s lesser-known films, his work in dark comedies, ensemble pieces, science fiction and other genres. Some of the films in the series include, ‘Red Lights’, ‘Anthropoid’, and ‘Breakfast on Pluto’.
About Programmer Leslie Hatton
To celebrate the work of Danish movie star Mads Mikkelsen, Leslie Hatton created and hosted the Mad About Mads monthly film screening series at Eyesore Cinema in 2024-2025. In July 2024, she co-hosted the Revue Cinema screening of the Redd Kross documentary Born Innocent, with founding members and brothers Jeff and Steven McDonald in attendance. Her work has been published in Vague Visages, Rue Morgue, Birth Movies Death, Modern Horrors, The Cultural Gutter, and more, including two anthologies from Kier-La Janisse’s Spectacular Optical imprint.
Hye’s Recommendation
The screening series at Eyesore are some of my favourites to attend. I also met Leslie through the Mad About Mads series last year. I appreciate the community engagement both Leslie and Eyesore Cinema offer fellow cinephiles who want to connect outside the mainstream movie theatres.
You can purchase advance tickets for the Fanzine Release Party + IN TIME Screening via this link. For this and all other series screenings, you can purchase tickets at the door for $5.00 CAD.
