Theatre Direct Canada presents Forward March Festival 2024 this weekend. This free, two-day festival invites children between 7- to 12-years-old to experience three brand-new plays curated and created especially for them. Toronto Union brings us Black Dreams and Aspirations, a free publicly accessible art exhibition co-curated with MakeRoom Inc. featuring special guest artist Yasin Osman. The exhibit is sponsored by TD Bank Group (TD).
Black Dreams and Aspirations started with an open call for artists to address the question: What does it mean to dream while Black? Union’s programming team, TD’s Art Curator, MakeRoom Inc. and guest judges James Yeboah and Shuraine Otto-Olak, selected twelve artists for a two-part exhibition series that explores themes of community, self-possession, connection to the past, creativity, and the power of imagination.

Over the course of 4 days, a group of curious and thoughtful artists, filmmakers, critics, and academics engaging with Latin American artistic production in Canada will take part in the First Latin American Media Arts Symposium (LAMAS). The symposium aims to explore questions about how media arts spaces and institutions are or are not supporting the visibility of Latin American media arts and film in Canada. It will also explore the idea of how we can move forward through local and transnational collaboration.
LAMAS includes panel discussions, round tables, performances, and special collaborations with local arts organizations. The symposium is taking place on October 4-7, 2023 at the Friends House in Toronto.
