Aluna Theatre presents its 6th edition of the RUTAS International Performing Arts Festival this month. I always make a point of attending one or two interactive or immersive experiences at SummerWorks every year. By doing so, I have discovered new artists, took part in the telling of a story, and even canoed to one of the Islands for a ‘celebration of life’ of sorts. Each one is always so memorable.

READ MOREToronto Fringe is currently presenting its 36th Annual Toronto Fringe Festival with 77 shows at 16 venues across Toronto, including comedy, drama, musicals, dance, storytelling, along with KidsFest & Kids Camp at St. Volodymyr Institute, plus many more free summer fun at their pop-up Patio at The Tranzac.
I have received several messages from various artists premiering and presenting their work at the festival this year. I have also looked at the festival program and have made my list of show recommendations, including family and kid-friendly ones too.

The festival will kick off with a launch party and parade on July 2 at the Fringe Patio, the social hub and heart of the festival located at the Tranzac. The night will begin with the annual Fringe artist parade through the Annex neighbourhood, accompanied by live music by Pan Fantasy. Throughout the evening at the Fringe Patio attendees can enjoy free ice cream by QB Snax, and sampling and swag from Partake Brewing and Saulter Street Brewery.

Inside Out Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival has revealed the full program lineup for its 34th edition today. The festival, which proudly champions innovative 2SLGBTQ+ filmmakers from across the globe, will showcase 106 films from 25 countries, including 30 feature films and 5 world premieres.

This free, two-day festival invites children between 7- to 12-years-old to experience three brand-new plays curated and created especially for them. All plays are performed with ASL interpretation or, for plays in ASL, with voiceover in English.
