After more than three decades behind the camera, award wWinning filmmaker Alan Zweig (Vinyl, I Curmudgeon, Hurt) gets in front of a microphone and brings his honesty and humor to The Worst Podcast where notable celebrities and cultural icons are invited for a conversation.
The catch here is that Alan does not know who he is about to interview and he is okay with that. He wants to talk about the worst things in life – nagging fears, annoyances, and failures – he thinks “this is a good concept.”
Over the course of the first season, Alan sits down with a diverse group of comedians, broadcasters, authors, and influencers. Of the various highlights, comedian and podcaster Paul F. Tompkins (Mr. Show with Bob and David, BoJack Horseman) talks about his worst job and the letdown of a limp handshake. Celebrated podcaster Anna Sale (Death, Sex & Money) confesses to Alan that her children drive her crazy.
In lead up to the launch of The Worst Podcast, I had an opportunity to speak with Alan about this new venture. He candidly shares his trepidation about becoming a podcaster but also about this being an interesting change from his filmmaking career. In addition, Alan confirms what I already suspected… that he is in fact, not really a curmudgeon after all.
Season One of The Worst Podcast launches on September 4. 2024. Weekly episodes will be available free across all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
