Screamify™ has released the first title in its new Micro Horrors™ format, Autonomous, and it traps you somewhere you cannot run from: the backseat of a driverless car that has its own plans.
Setting the Scene
Developed by the Screamify Originals team in Nashville, TN and produced by Erin Áine and Kyle Valle of Big Squid Productions. Erin does both jobs of producing and acting at once; she shaped the project from the inside and onto the screen. Autonomous blends intimate character drama with real-world technology, grounding its horror in a vehicle anyone can ride in today.
Autonomous takes place entirely inside a fully self-driving vehicle of the kind already operating on public roads in the USA. What starts as another late-night trip quickly into a survival-horror ride (pun intended) when Amy (Erin Áine) and Derek (Domenic Jungling) realize the car has rerouted itself, the doors will not open, and the ride is not going to end where they asked.
The series turns one of the most common conveniences of modern life into a sealed, moving trap. And just when you think the car taking full control is bad enough, another curveball is thrown at us. You simply have to know how Amy and Derek will get out of this very dangerous situation.
The 16-episode vertical series was shot natively in 9:16 aspect ratio for the phone screen. The story builds over each episode, which makes it perfect to watch in a single sitting.
