Based on real people and events, The People vs. Fritz Bauer focuses on Bauer (Burghart Klaußner) — a German Jew, serving as an attorney general in West Germany in 1957. As attorney general, Bauer’s work included tracking down former Nazi officials. In the process, he is constantly undermined by superiors and colleagues who are still sympathetic to the Third Reich. Toronto’s One Little Goat Theatre Company has been awarded an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant to perform the company’s first play for young audiences in 40 Model Schools for Inner Cities. The company makes its theatre-for-young-audiences debut with PLAY: A (Mini) History of Theatre for Kids, a new work written and directed by Artistic Director Adam Seelig. READ MORE

World renowned culinary artist and humanist Massimo Bottura, whose restaurant Osteria Francescana has been voted number one in the world, decided to create a soup kitchen during Milan’s World Fair in 2015. Director Peter Svatek documented the proceedings as sixty of the world’s best chefs joined him to cook for refugees and the homeless of Milan out of the waste food of the Expo. READ MORE
The Meet the Presses collective has announced the finalists for the 2016 bpNichol Chapbook Award. The prize, awarded annually since its establishment in 1985, goes to the author of the best poetry chapbook – in the estimation of the judges – published in Canada in the previous year and submitted for consideration.
