This Is Not An Exit
Written April 3, 2025
Losing sense who I was, who I am and who I will become
The passage of time pulls me back and forth
forcing me to confront myself again and again
A reminder that to lose myself is a means to find myself again
Life in this female body is often complicated by biology, by society,
by others’ expectations and by our own perception of who we are
Wanting to push boundaries in this very female body means making concessions
I am contented with the path chosen
But the doubts resurface from time to time
They come in the form of micro aggressions,
underhanded comments, insults, being ignored, overlooked or dismissed
And again, time moves forward
The body shows signs of accumulated time and
I wonder will my actions make an impact…
will I become the person I think I am meant to be
This is not an exit.
