The Musical Stage Company premieres the star-studded lineup and dates for the 16th edition of their signature UNCOVERED: THE MUSIC OF ABBA concert event. Musical Stage is also announcing, with immense gratitude, that this edition will be beloved Music Director Reza Jacobs’ last.

Sara Farb is a veteran with The Musical Stage Company. She has been part of all the UNCOVERED series except one. She has also been part of five seasons at The Stratford Festival with shows including Romeo and Juliet, Anne Frank, King Lear; Fun Home (Musical Stage Company/Mirvish — Dora nom); Canadian premiere of The Humans (Canadian Stage/Citadel), R-E-B-E- C-C-A (playwright and performer, Theatre Passe Muraille).
Sara is the bookwriter for Kelly v. Kelly, which she wrote with Britta Johnson (music and lyrics) with the Canadian Stage and Musical Stage Companies. The world premiere of Kelly v. Kelly was delayed due to COVID. The Musical Stage Company is dedicated to the future of the piece and look forward to premiering it in a future season.

Those of us in Toronto can finally enjoy live/musical theatre again! The new Canadian musical BLACKOUT opens at High Park Amphitheatre as part of Canadian Stage’s Dream in High Park 2021 programming this week. The Musical Stage Company (MSC) has supported the development of this in-development production over the past year.
BLACKOUT is set on the evening of the blackout of 2003 and while this happened nearly 20 years ago, a musical about how Torontonians came together and found connection in the dark feels quite relevant today when the city is slowly coming out of the darkness of the pandemic and trying to reconnect.

Last night, I had the pleasure of attend The Musical Stage Company‘s Uncovered: Stevie Wonder And Prince — an opportunity to enjoy some of the greatest works by these two artists reimagined under Reza Jacobs‘ direction. The night included Thom Allison (Broadway), Colin Asuncion (singer & cabaret performer), Aimee Bessada (multi-instrumentalist & songwriter), Jully Black (Juno award-winner), Michelle Bouey (2018-19 Banks Prize winner), Divine Brown (Juno award-winner), Alana Hibbert (Stratford & Shaw Festivals), Lydia Persaud (singer-songwriter) Jackie Richardson (Gemini & Dora award-winner), Cary Shields (Broadway) among others. Accompanying Jacobs were Jamie Drake, Justin Gray, and Erika Nielsen.

The Musical Stage Company and Yonge Street Theatricals, in association with The Globe and Mail, present REPRINT, the inaugural production of three original musicals generated in LAUNCH PAD, a ground-breaking musical development residency developed by the two companies.
REPRINT, an imaginative triptych of short new musicals will be presented on the 17th floor of The Globe and Mail Centre, overlooking Toronto’s breathtaking cityscape.
