Earlier this week, I attended the Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF) 2022’s announcement of its official screening venues across the city. This year’s venues will include TIFF Bell Lightbox, Roy Thomson Hall, the Visa Screening Room at the Princess of Wales Theatre, Scotiabank Theatre Toronto, and the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
TIFF aims to kick off September 8, 2022 for 11 days of international and Canadian cinema, press and industry screenings, special events, and red carpets featuring some of the biggest names in film.

Uno Helmersson is an award-winning Swedish composer and multi-instrumentalist whose credits include the worldwide hit TV series The Bridge, which was broadcast in more than 100 territories and won him a Golden FIPA Award.
Awarded and nominated for his music, with over 70 composer credits on IMDB and more than 800 registered compositions on his rights society, he is among the top composers for film in the northern part of Europe.
Uno’s latest work includes the Sundance 2021 animated documentary FLEE, the BBC documentary Riots, and the awarded documentary The Painter and the Thief.

Faran Moradi is an Iranian-Canadian filmmaker, born and raised in Ontario. He is best known as a Telefilm Talent to Watch recipient for his feature film, Tehranto.
Tehranto is an unlikely story of love and family where Badi and Sharon, two young students with very different upbringings from a divided Iranian community, accidentally fall in love.
This year’s Sundance Film Festival is available virtually through the USA, with some content available freely without geographical restrictions.

Anna Kuelken, has been selected as the National winner of the 19th annual BMO 1st Art! Competition.
As the National winner Anna has been awarded a cash prize of $15,000 for her film submission, entitled Father Like Son. The 17-minute long film offers a brief look into daily life on the filmmaker’s small family farm. As her young niece and nephew grow and integrate into the farm, they are faced with difficult lessons about empathy and where their food comes from.

The importance of mental health awareness has been a focus for Workman Arts for years. This year is no different, especially with their linup for the 29th edition of the Rendezvous With Madness Festival (RWM). This is one of the largest and longest-running arts festival in the world dedicated to the intersection of mental health and artistic expression.
Since many of us are still feeling the emotional effects of months of isolation, income precarity, and anxiety over what the future holds, the Rendezvous With Madness Festival offers a unique opportunity to come together in reflection and discussion.
