The Pendance Film Fesitval’s returns this year with its virtual edition. This year’s programming includes feature and short films including some festival award winner. Pendance is also presenting panels and workshops available to aspiring and established filmmakers.
Below I share my list of recommendations of films and panels for you to partake at this year’s festival.
ALL ARTS has announced Afrofuturism: Blackness Revisualized, a new Afrofuturist film festival exploring the genre through 10 feature-length and short films from across the world. The festival will run on the last Friday of every month from March 26 to December 31, 2021. The films will be available to screen for free in the US.

The 20th edition of aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival returns with a virtual edition this year. For their twentieth anniversary, aluCine’s programming is centred around two major themes: migration in cinema, and Latin womxn in cinema. Already underway, you can take part in the online program free of charge.

The 11th Annual Toronto Youth Shorts (TYS) returns this weekend offering us an excellent serving of local short films made by young Ontario-based filmmakers. The festival serves as a platform for young filmmakers to showcase their budding, cinematic talents.

Tonight, from April 10 to 19, Cinéfranco Festival International du Film Francophone takes over the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema in Toronto.
One of the well-known festivals in the city, Cinéfranco has been bringing us some of the best in Francophone cinema for the past 18 years.
